"Fight cognitive decline.
Boost your mood.
Play the music you love."
The only drum program in Central Oregon built around brain health — and having the time of your life.
Science shows drumming is one of the most effective activities for fighting cognitive decline — it engages more of your brain simultaneously than almost anything else you can do. I didn't come to this from a textbook. My dad has been living with dementia for over 10 years. And he’s in his mid 70s. This is personal for me. And that's exactly why I'm so committed to helping you learn how to drum. — Meshem
This is for you if:
You're an adult who has always wanted to play drums and you're finally doing it
You played before and want to shake off the dust and get back into it
You play but never learned the fundamentals or how to read drum notation
You want to play along to the songs you love or jam with friends
You want to do something genuinely good for your brain — and have an absolute blast doing it
Why this matters to me personally
My dad has been living with dementia for over 10 years. He’s in his mid-70s. This has made a big impact on why I teach and the way I teach. Drumming is one of the most powerful brain workouts that exists — the research backs it up, and I've seen firsthand what it looks like when that window starts to close. My mission is to help as many people as possible keep it open — while having the absolute time of their life doing it.

"Once I found Meshem, I started taking lessons with him. It was night and day. He really helped me in the understanding of freedom on the drums the understanding of coordination and everything you do as far as drums go."

"You’re an amazing teacher, by far the best I’ve ever worked with."
Eric Carne-McPherson
Depending on the student's learning style, my method of teaching is a mixed bag of out of the book studies and rote training, along with a heuristic approach enabling the student to discover their own voice and creativity on the drums.
No matter your level and your confidence, I am very patient and only want an enjoyable, and worthwhile, experience for you.
My approach is simple. Make it a chill, no pressure, guided experience.
